n-compass Counselling Volunteer: Robert's Story
Having been a qualified counsellor for several years, Robert volunteered with n-compass, hoping to broaden his knowledge and skills. He has counselled in a variety of fields and has mainly worked with adults and touching on working with teenagers.
Robert felt that he had little experience within this area, particularly with self-harm, so volunteering with The Butterfly and Phoenix Project seemed like a perfect fit. Achieving more than he could have hoped for, he has been able to work with a variety of presenting issues and now feels that he’s gained great experience with this age group, delivering counselling to teenagers in high schools.
Every person that Robert came across and worked with were extremely supportive and always made time to help him if he needed it. Rober said: “It has been such an easy process, I have felt valued and not just a number, having volunteered for many years now for a number of different organisations, n-compass has been my most favourite.
"In summing up my experience it has been enlightening, inspiring and humbling. It has been a real privilege to be part of such as fabulous organisation. The work has been rewarding and has fuelled my passion to help others even further.”
n-compass provides excellent patient focused Advocacy and respects the patient’s rights and views.”
