Last night we attended the CYP Now Awards and what an inspiring and uplifting event it was! The Awards are in their 11th year and have become the benchmark of good practice for those working with children, young people and their families so you can imagine our delight at being shortlisted in the Health & Wellbeing category.
The ceremony was hosted by children's TV presenter Dave Benson Phillips and opened by the amazing Croydon Steel Orchestra made up of talented young people.
It was such a privilege to be part of the event. We had the opportunity to learn about the fantastic work carried out by the public, private and voluntary sector all of whom showed great passion for improving the lives of children and you people.
Around 500 professionals from up and down the country were in attendance. As winners of the several categories were announced each and every one of us showed support and appreciation for the work carried out by the dedicated and talented professionals. All the finalists are winners in our eyes.
The most touching of awards went to a lady who has fostered over 300 children since the 1960's and continues to provide families with respite. She received a much-deserved standing ovation.
When it came to the Health & Wellbeing Award, the award we had been shortlisted for, we eagerly sat awaiting announcement and to our absolute delight we won and we are immensely proud of this achievement. The criteria for the category was a project that has made the biggest contribution to children and young people's health and wellbeing...and that is exactly what we have done and will continue to do!
Our Butterfly & Phoenix Self Harm Projects work with children and your people who are self harming or at risk of doing so to tackle the root cause and help young people develop healthier coping mechanisms. We do this through one to one counselling and risk and resilience group workshops.
We could not do the work we do without the financial support of our commissioners; Fylde & Wyre CCG, Preston, Chorley & South Ribble CCGs, East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen CCGs. Thank you to all the schools that work in partnership with us enabling us to see young people in schools. Thank you to our dedicated, skilled and passionate staff team and thank you to all the young people that engage with the service for being so brave and coming forward for support. We believe and are reminded everyday that each and every young person has so much potential.
