Joanna Frith-Williams

Trustee

I am a proud Lancastrian, especially proud to be part of such a fabulous and diverse community with a strong tradition of hard work, industrial innovation and care for each other. I live in Lancashire with my family.

I have worked tirelessly in education throughout my career, ensuring that education is inclusive, allowing participants to fulfil their potential and support the local community with skills for financial sustainability.

My Grandad Bill is a huge inspiration for life and career. Born in Preston and an apprentice moulder at Leyland Motors with a passion for education to fundamentally change lives, he humbly achieved so much for his family and the communities of South Ribble and beyond.  He set up a foundry in Chennai which now employs 40,000 people and supports the economic wellbeing of that region to this day.

Over the past 10 years, I have been an interim senior leader in further education and skills, driving quality and ensuring learning is accessible. I am particularly interested in Equity, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, especially around mental health and wellbeing.  I am also an advocate for those who lack a voice, especially the youth.

I am excited to join the Board of N-Compass as I share its values and raison d’etre. I have long experience of reporting to Board and have been a trustee on three previous occasions. N-Compass is fundamentally worthwhile, and I look forward to providing strategic oversight and governance to the senior team and working closely with my fellow trustees.
