Launch of Knowsley Carers’ Hub

N-Compass is pleased to announce the launch of the Knowsley Carers’ Hub, our first carers’ service in Merseyside. While we have delivered advocacy services across the region for many years, this marks an important step in expanding our support for carers in the borough.

We have worked closely with Knowsley Council to ensure a smooth transition and effective mobilisation of the new service. Recognising that change can be unsettling, our focus has been on continuity for carers and ensuring the service was fully operational from day one. With a full staff team in place and the necessary systems ready, the Hub opened at 9am on its first day, providing a seamless service for those who rely on it.

We are grateful to the Knowsley commissioning team for their support, clear direction, and flexibility throughout the process. Their collaborative approach enabled us to focus on key implementation tasks, ensuring that the service was set up effectively and efficiently. A special thank you also goes to our central teams – IT, People Services, Finance and Marketing – for pulling out all the stops to ensure everything was in place and ready to go from day one.

We also want to acknowledge the work of Knowsley Carers Centre, which has supported carers in the borough since 1997. We are pleased to welcome Paul and the team into N-Compass as they transfer into the new service. Their existing relationships with carers and local partners are invaluable, helping to maintain stability and ensuring carers continue to receive support without disruption.

The Knowsley Carers’ Hub provides a single point of access for adult carers (18+) who support someone of any age living in Knowsley or registered with a Knowsley GP. The service offers practical and emotional support, including one-to-one and group sessions, information and advice, guidance on financial and well-being matters, and access to local activities and networks. There are also opportunities for carers to take part in training, access counselling, and connect with other carers through our online Carers Community Network.

Over the coming months, we will work closely with partners across the borough to identify and engage with carers who may not currently be accessing support. Many people are providing unpaid care without recognising themselves as carers, and we want to ensure they have the information and support they need.
