N-Compass: Looking Ahead to Our Next Strategic Plan

As we approach the final year of our current strategic plan, we are taking the opportunity to step back, reflect, and think carefully about what comes next. Our next strategy, running from April 2026, will be shaped over the coming year, giving us time to make sure it is well thought through and built on our strong foundations. We have a great platform, a refreshed Board of Trustees, and an experienced leadership team. Now is the right time to build on what works while exploring new opportunities aligned with our mission

We know that standing still isn’t an option, but growth for growth’s sake isn’t the answer either. We are also exploring how we can develop and enhance what we do – whether through new technology, enhancing social value, or finding better ways to reach those who are harder to engage. There’s always a balance to strike: between ambition and realism, evolving and staying true to what we do best. Diversifying can open new doors, but it also brings challenges. We want to explore new possibilities with confidence but in a way that makes sense – measured, sustainable, and always in the best interests of the people we support.

Encouragingly, we are in a strong position as we look ahead. Financially, our income has grown to £7.5 million within the current strategic timeframe, enabling us to deliver new services such as the Westmorland & Furness Advocacy Hub, the Knowsley Advocacy Hub, and the Knowsley Carers Hub.

We are committed to innovation and growth, embracing new technology and platforms such as the Digital Advocacy Hub and using AI to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. These developments will be key as we shape our future strategy.

One thing we know for sure is that we will not be shaping this plan in isolation. Our Board, Leadership Team, employees, and the people we support all bring invaluable perspectives, and their input will be key to ensuring our strategy is grounded, achievable, and something everyone can get behind.

Our commitment to being a great place to work remains strong. 89% of employees agree that N-Compass is an organisation they are proud to be part of, and 83% value the training and development opportunities they receive.

Our people tell us they appreciate transparency and feel valued. We are proud of that and want to ensure it continues to be a fundamental part of our operation. Leadership matters and 90% of employees agree that our executives embody the best characteristics of the organisation. We are also delighted that 100% of our stakeholders see N-Compass as a hight quality provider of health and social care services and would consider us as a future partner.

We have got a strong framework in place — our five strategic pillars have guided us well. The question is how we build on them to drive the next phase of our journey. We want to keep what works while making space for fresh thinking, new approaches, and opportunities that add value.

This next year is about taking stock, exploring options, and making thoughtful, strategic choices. We remain focused on delivering high-quality services, strengthening partnerships, and growing in a way that has a real impact. As we start shaping our future direction, we welcome conversations with commissioners, funders, and potential partners who share our vision.

The next chapter for N-Compass is exciting, and we are looking forward to seeing where it takes us.
